Low-Cost Robotic Guide Based on a Motor Imagery Brain–Computer Interface for Arm Assisted Rehabilitation
2020
Motor imagery has been suggested as an efficient alternative to improve the rehabilitation process of affected limbs. In this study, a low-cost robotic guide is implemented so that linear position can be controlled via the user&rsquo
European core curriculum in neurorehabilitation.
2017
Item does not contain fulltext To date, medical education lacks Europe-wide standards on neurorehabilitation. To address this, the European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies (EFNR) here proposes a postgraduate neurorehabilitation training scheme. In particular, the European medical core curriculum in neurorehabilitation should include a two-year residency in a neurorehabilitation setting where trainees can gain practical experience. Furthermore, it should comprise six modules of classroom training organized as weekend seminars or summer/winter schools. In conclusion, after defining the European medical core curriculum in neurorehabilitation, the next activities of the EFNR will be…
Long-term effects on motor cortical excitability induced by repeated muscle vibration during contraction in healthy subjects
2008
article i nfo Objective: The effects of a novel repeated muscle vibration intervention (rMV; 100 Hz, 90 min over 3 consecutive days) on corticomotor excitability were studied in healthy subjects. Methods: rMV was applied over the flexor carpi radialis (FCR) during voluntary contraction (experiment 1), during relaxation and during contraction without vibration (experiment 2). Focal transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was applied before rMV and one hour, and one, two and three weeks after the last muscle vibration intervention. At each of these time points, we assessed the motor map area and volume in the FCR, extensor digitorum communis (EDC) and abductor digiti minimi (ADM). Short-inter…
Recovery of aphasia: a case study with “dual” tdcs.
2011
Objectives. In the present study we used a “dual” tDCS (Vines et al., 2008; Giglia et al., 2011) training on inferior frontal gyrus’s (IFG) areas in order to improve the linguistic performance of EBE, an Italian female, left-handed, presenting a global aphasia following a stroke of right middle cerebral artery. Materials. For the picture naming task, 20 object and 20 action images, selected from a set of picture standardized for frequency, were presented on a paper sheet one at time. Method. Stimulation was used at 1mA for 15 minutes. Dual tDCS was given over both IFGs, cathode in the right (damaged areas) and anode in the left (preserved areas) daily for two weeks (weekend-free). The posit…
